Our Services are Superior

Hello, I'm Jack Freedman, founder and president of Superior Watch Service Inc. Over 30 years ago I started in the watchmaking trade as an apprentice with a renowned watchmaker, worked at several watch repair shops, and later was employed at a large watch material supply house. It was at that company that I learned all about watch parts, what to order, and how to keep a proper inventory.

In 1969 I started my own company, Superior Watch Service Inc. Still family owned, Superior has succeeded in an industry where there are fewer qualified watchmakers each year. It has done so by combining traditional old-world watchmaking skills with today's advanced technology. Under my guidance, the company has continually invested in modern and sophisticated repair and office equipment. Today, Superior is a tightly run operation in a quiet neighborhood outside of New York City repairing timepieces ranging from simple quartz to complicated mechanical movements.

Superior is the oldest authorized factory service source for IWC and Porsche Design in North America. We have been with IWC-International and Porsche Design for more than a quarter of a century. Our company maintains a full inventory of spare parts necessary for repairing the original classical Porsche Design by Orfina watches.

Our customers range from individual watch owners, fine jewelers, and watch manufacturers to watch buffs and collectors. Superior relies on a sophisticated, custom-designed computer program that tracks every repair record and provides total job order control. We can look up service records by the watch serial number. All of our administrative work has been automated and can be performed quickly and easily.

Superior also developed a unique computerized system to monitor the accuracy of mechanical watches. The system tests rates, beat errors, and amplitudes while holding the watch in six different positions, then automatically calculates the appropriate average results and prints them out. We also co-developed a machine with a Swiss manufacturer to test the water resistance of watches. At our facilities, water-resistant watches are subjected to five rigorous tests, using two independent testing machines. We furnish detailed printouts of the test results to our customers.

Superior's goal is to create a service experience in which customer expectations are exceeded, complaints are not only solicited but resolved, and problems are fixed quickly the first time a watch is sent in for repair. To be successful in a repair service business, you must deliver on what you promise, have a high rate of successful repair at promised estimates, and a minimum of arguments or excuses for your failures. We put ourselves in the shoes of the customer. Those who buy expensive watches demand that repairs are done right, on time, and with little hassle.

Our aim is to provide the same quality of service here in the U.S. that one would expect from a watch manufacturer in Switzerland. When we return repairs to our customers, we are confident that the factory would have done it in the same manner, whether overhauling the movement, polishing the case and bracelet or resealing and watertesting.

No other repair center anywhere provides you the superior services we do. Professional and courteous service is the hallmark of my company. We don't just boast about service, I guarantee it to your satisfaction.
